EXERCISE ENHANCES MENTAL HEALTH

Mental health is intimately related to physical health; they compliment each other. They are like two sides of the same coin. A man with good physical health alone can have good mental health, and vice versa. Deterioration in your physical health certainly leads to deterioration in your mental health and vice versa.
The people who are mentally ill do not eat food at the right time. They are always depressed and this causes chemical changes in the body which in turn causes a series of diseases. This type of mental disease is called Psycho-somatic disorder.

A cause of mental disease (psychologists term this as behavior disorder) is pondering over an incident which has already happened. Worrying about the past and feeling anxious about future incidents occupy the mind of that person to the exclusion of the present immediate environment. This state of mental condition is called ‘depression’.
The true cause of depression is worry. When worry dominates a man’s thought he will not do anything positive in the present time he will spend all this time worrying about something that has happened in the past and also about something adverse that may happen in future.

But, for a student who heads straight to the play ground from the school and for a worker who goes to a play ground after work, there is actually no time to worry as they are busy doing their exercise. All their attention is on their current activity. The past and the future events are all out of focus. These people will never be depressed and therefore cannot become mentally ill.
