Controlling the mind

It is not that easy to focus complete attention on a particular sound or on an object. Even while listening to your favorite song your attention drifts away to something else. Only through conscious training in yoga and meditation it is possible to control the mind. This will also take time. A controlled mind alone can concentrate on one job and succeed in doing the job. Focusing your mind on the present job can be achieved only through conscious and committed training.

People who condition their mind by meditating will also pay complete attention to the food they eat. Because of this, enough satisfaction is achieved even while eating a moderate quantity of food than people who have not conditioned their minds. Inattentive people keep their attention for only for a short span of time on the food they eat and thus are not easily satisfied with their intake. So, they end up eating more. A well disciplined mind that is earned through proper meditations helps a student to pay attention in the classroom. He is able to observe and to record the teaching for 45 minutes. Recording the lessons in the mind is the first condition for recollection of the learned material. Such students do extremely well in their studies as they have already recorded in their mind the subjects to be learnt. Any message which is not recorded in the mind cannot be retrieved on a later day.
